A Valentine’s Day Where Simple Felt Special

On February 14th, 2025, we chose to spend Valentine’s Day at home with the kids. We wanted it to feel special for them, not just another night in. We started by making two dinners — a surfandturf meal for us, and spaghetti and meatballs for the kids, knowing it was their favorite and that it tied perfectly into the surprise we had planned next.

After dinner, we transformed the playroom into a cozy little movie spot. We opened up the bean bag bed, piled on pillows and blankets, set out popcorn, candy, and drinks, and all snuggled in to watch Lady and the Tramp. It was simple, but honestly one of the most memorable and cherished Valentine’s Days we’ve ever had.

The kids and I ended up falling asleep there, while my husband headed to bed. It definitely wasn’t the most comfortable night, but it’s one of those moments I look back on and smile — a night wrapped up with the two little humans I love more than anything.
